Musical Sparks on the Piano

Recently I discovered a delightful piano piece titled Étincelles (Sparks) by the German-Jewish composer  Moritz Moszkowski (1854 – 1925).  The music is light and flashy and a popular encore for pianists.

In this article I present a performance by Vladimir Horowitz from 1984  followed by more recent recordings.
